Der Titel kam mir bekannt vor. Jetzt nicht wegen irgendeiner TV-Serie, sondern weil ich eine Seite mit sehr guten Analysen gebookmarked habe. Besonders die Videos von Brian Berlitic habe ich zeitweise alle paar Tage gesehen, weil er aus und über Thailand und den unheilvollen Einfluss der Amis (über das National Endowmend for Democracy) berichtet. Für ihn ist der Familien-Clan von den Amis protegiert und instrumentalisiert. Stark vereinfacht, weil irgendwie isses doch immer etwas komplizierter.
 
Thaksin zur US Zollpolitik, Thai Enquirer von vorhin :

Thailand should not accept all terms offered by the U.S. in trade negotiations or agree to cut tariffs to zero unless it applies equally to both parties, as this is the principle of a Free Trade Agreement, said former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

He explained that the current tax system and trade barriers were unnecessary but had not been addressed, leading the U.S. to perceive an imbalance in trade restrictions. As a result, adjustments are needed, and Thailand must amend its own policies.

Thaksin noted that U.S. tariffs follow a specific formula: Thailand’s trade surplus and the amount the U.S. exports to Thailand are calculated as percentages and then halved. For example, Cambodia exports little to the U.S. and buys almost nothing from it, so the U.S. considers this 90% and halves it. This is how the formula works.

Thaksin also pointed out that the U.S. wants each country to negotiate individually. The Thai government has already reached out, and the Prime Minister has met with the economic team, confirming that representatives will be sent to the negotiating table, suggesting that progress is possible.

Sieht so aus als ob sich der Wind gerade wieder gegen die Shinawatras dreht. Die peinlichsten Premierminister aller Zeiten. Da kann selbst Banharn nicht gegen...
 
Ich denke so ca. 300 Mio USD tun auch einem USD Milliardär weh. Wahrscheinlich wird es nie passieren. Persönliche Haftung für wirtschaftspolitische Entscheidungen eines Premierministers sind außerdem rechtlich anfechtbar und davon werden die Shinawatras sicherlich ausgiebig Gebrauch machen.

Die beiden verlinkten Artikel besagen aber etwas anderes und die Bevölkerung des thailändischen Nordens und Nordostens sehen das auch anders! Diese "Reisgeschichte" hat die damalige MP bestimmt nicht alleine durchgezogen und in "anderen Demokratien" ist ein Regierungshandeln auch nicht im Nachhinein strafwürdig (siehe Habeck und Baerbock)!

Die Shinawatra Partei PT hatte die 2023 Wahlen klar gegen die von Pita gefuehrte MFP mit 28% gegen 38% verloren und stellt nur durch ein aeusserst hinterhaeltiges Manoever unter Verwendung des Gesetzes gegen Majestaetsbeleidigung die Regierung, ist also nicht legitimiert.

Es gab eine ganze Serie von Hinterhälten. Wie das in der thailändischen Politik oft so ist.

Wie sich Thaksin aus der Verbannung wieder in die höchsten politischen Ämter hineinlavierte -mit Zwischenstation Gefängnis- ist wahrscheinlich bestes Material für einen Film. Srettha Thavisin war leider nicht die Marionette die sich Thaksin gewünscht hat, daher muss jetzt die Tochter ran.

Sehr interessant und hochdramatisch war auch die Wendung dass sich bei der letzten Wahl Orange als das neue Rot herausstellte. Die PTP wurde quasi mit den eigenen Waffen an den Urnen geschlagen, und zwar durch eine Partei deren wahre Interessen noch dubioser sind als die der PTP.

Da die PTP aber die bessere Verbindungen hatte (und immer noch hat), wurde der Wahlsieger ganz übel ausgetrickst und musste sich zurückziehen. Das trägt die Handschrift des Emperors höchstpersönlich.

Diese bereits nach den Wahlen 2019 erfogte Anbiederung an die Shinawatra PTP laesst Orange in der Tat suspekt erscheinen.
